M said to me about life: "...it's not a feverish search but a gentle acceptance." Sitting in the park with a broken heart, I listened to his words and looked up at the trees. I tried to really look at them as if I was seeing them for the first time. Did you know? Magnolias are one of the oldest flowers on Earth. That means even the dinosaurs lived among them.
I know it is Spring once I see them blooming on the trees in the park. But their bloom is short lived and they fall to the ground, to be replaced by budding green leaves. For a few days, the ground in the park is covered with magnolias. Then, overnight they disappear, swept up quietly by the neighbors. Sitting under the magnolia tree now, I remember them.
