Dear A, I am learning a hard lesson about what it means to have real principles and values. I am thinking about Attica today, I am thinking about all ancestors who are still alive in the people we live and love among. We honor the dead by being with the living. More than poetry, learning to live on this planet with each other demands all of our life––and even more. From Franz Wright's poem On Earth:

How does one go
about dying?
Who on earth
is going to teach me—
The world
is filled with people
who have never died

I wonder if everybody gets to live in such a way that at the end of everything they feel as if they really got an opportunity to truly learn about themselves and the world.
